Important Mumps Information

We have become aware there has been a confirmed case of mumps within the school. At least 1 other child has also had symptoms of mumps. We have spoken to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and they advise you ensure your child has had 2 doses of MMR vaccination.

In addition, children with mumps should be excluded from school for 5 days after the onset of swelling. Your GP can request a saliva testing kit to confirm the diagnosis.

Further information about Mumps is available on the HPA site:

General Mumps Information

Facebook Warning - Parents, Carers and Guardians

It has come to the schools attention that an individual is using Facebook to act as an "Agony Aunt" to students, some of which attend Great Wyrley High School. The person is calling themselves "Aggie Agony Aunt". We are advising students, parents and carers to use the Facebook reporting system and the CEOP button to report this person because we have no way of verifying who they are. The CEOP button is available on the school website and is located on the left-hand side of this page. Thank you for your understanding and support.
